“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
- Colossians 1:16-17
The gospel is the good news of God's love displayed to His creation through the person and work of Jesus Christ - by His life, death, resurrection, and eternal reign – and the power of His Holy Spirit at work in and through those who have trusted in Jesus for their salvation. While the sins of mankind have fractured God's glorious creation, He is at work to restore what we have shattered. As such, the work of God's people is not to feel better or to be better. Our work is to grow to be more like Jesus Christ as we proclaim His love, grace, and mercy to those around us and to bring a taste of God's Kingdom to our world now.
Our vision is to be a church of backyard missionaries who seek to change Erie and the surrounding communities by learning what it means to follow Jesus in our hearts, to share the gospel with our neighbors in grace-filled love, to build up the good of our community with compassionate care, and to raise the next generation of the church by being dedicated to the spiritual welfare of our students. In short we seek to know Christ and make Him known.
The mission of Erie Evangelical Free Church is to glorify God by making disciples through the gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s mission and the mission of His Church are inseparably linked. If God’s mission is to be glorified through the redemption and reconciliation of a people, the Church’s mission must orient around the glory of God and seek to glorify Him through redemption and reconciliation
Our hope is that those who associate with Erie Evangelical Free Church would taste the goodness of God regardless of the situations of the culture in which we live. As they do we pray they would encounter His truth through His Word (the Bible) to be transformed by His grace. And, one-by-one, we hope God's love would be magnified through the way we worship the Lord, serve one another, and proclaim the gospel in our communities.
We are excited that you are interested in knowing more about Christ and this local body of believers. Look around the site, check out our ministries, watch a message, sign-up for a class, or jump in and serve with us. We are glad you are here.
